Surrealist Photo Collage

Surrealist Photo Collage

Photoshop used to be my bread and butter, my go-to software of choice for anything and everything design and creativity. Once I had learned Illustrator and the pros of designing with vector graphics and using the more robust type tools, I migrated from Photoshop more and more. Doing this surrealist collage project was a great way to really dive back into everything that Photoshop can offer.

The fun challenge with this project was really pushing myself to make everything feel like it existed in the same space. There are lots of adjusts to ensure shadows and lighting made the whole piece feel cohesive. There is an overlay of green on the lower halves of objects to show the bounce light of the grass and trees around them affecting the people, animals, and objects, there’s bespoke painted shadows and highlights added to enhance this cohesion as well.

Below is a collection of all the original photos used in this collage to give you an idea of where I started with each piece.
